:bulletyellow::bulletyellow::bulletyellow::bulletyellow::bulletyellow: DONKEY KONG LAND - 20th ANNIVERSARY:bulletyellow::bulletyellow::bulletyellow::bulletyellow::bulletyellow:

:icondonkeykongplz: Yes my friends, today 20 years ago, this game celebrated its american release. The fantastic gameplay of DK was brought to the relatively new Gameboy. And it was awesome! This game was my first Gameboy game back then, and over the years I often got to play it again. I even listen to the great Gameboy Soundtrack of this game today. Now before breaking out into more nostalgia ramble (and before too many of us feel unnecessarily old), I'll cut the speech right here. Happy anniversary, Donkey Kong Land, and thank you for the wonderful portable experience!

:icondiddykongplz: The game was divided into four worlds: Gangplank Galleon, Kremlantis, Monkey Mountains & Chimpanzee Clouds and Big Ape City. I depicted my favorite one. :airborne:

:iconkingkroolplz: Did you know that the premise of Donkey Kong Land is that DK and Diddy simply had a bet with Cranky Kong and the old coot let the Kremlings deliberately steal the banana hoard just to prove a point? Heh, guess as kids we didn't find it unjustified and weird.

:iconfunkykongplz: If you happen to have a Nintendo Shop Account on 3DS, I highly recommend to download this title. You won't regret it, it's a great throwback to the 90's and a fairly challenging game.

Pretty damn awesome. You don't often see DKL fanart, much less hear it get referenced (I was disappointed that the 3DS DK was just a 3D port of DKCReturns rather than a whole new 'DK Land Returns').

Thanks, FieryBirdyThing :) That's true, the DKL games don't get as much attention likely because they're ports of the Country series. The first DKL however felt different to me even back then because it featured landscapes that weren't used in their "better" counterparts like clouds, mountains and the city.
